Colorado M-series has been a game-changer for RA Smart Large Format
While RA Smart, celebrated its 50th anniversary only last year, its dedicated Large Format subsidiary was set up just a couple of years ago.
In that time, under the management of Adam Booth, RA Smart Large Format has grown steadily by adding the value of traditional wide format print technology to support the company’s textile roots.
“This has been a fantastic and exciting challenge for me,” says Adam, adding, “I have lived and breathed large format for most of my career. RA Smart has given me a wonderful opportunity to work with a committed and professional team and to help some amazing companies to achieve their ambitions and objectives through large format printing.”
“Most of our customers are in the digital textile printing market, and many of them also have a need for other forms of print. The formation of RA Smart large Format means we can offer them complete solutions from leading manufacturers that complement their existing solutions and help them to drive their businesses forward into new markets and new revenue streams.”
The recent introduction of the Colorado M-series has proven to be a major game-changer for RA Smart. Adam explains, “I am a massive fan of Canon’s printers and was a very early champion of the UVgel technology. The new Colorado, with its incredible white ink capabilities, has already been hugely successful for us and is a vital product for RA Smart Large Format’s continuing growth.”
UVgel white ink option substantially expands the range of applications that customers can create. The white UVgel ink maximises the scope for customers to benefit from UVgel’s renowned performance advantages for a full spectrum of premium graphics and décor applications – for example, window graphics, labels and wallpaper. With this addition, and with new media detection sensor technology for easy media handling, Colorado M-series users can expand their typical product offering, printing on heavy structured, transparent, coloured, reflective and magnetic materials.
Adam continues, “This machine has it all. It’s fast, reliable and can be left to print unattended with no worries at all. The UVgel ink also delivers tangible cost savings. Demo after demo is proving to be successful because this product ticks so many boxes. It keeps production, owners and accountants happy – it’s a powerful combination of quality, value and versatility.”
“The white ink adds measurable value and really makes a difference when talking to customers, particularly those in the interior décor market, which is growing very rapidly. These printers are big and important investments, and customers want to know they will deliver what they expect and more. We have already had customers invest in multiple machines from us, and one has just purchased their 9th!”
“Being part of the Canon family has been great. Their experience and knowledge add real value to us and our customers. Their demo facility in Birmingham is a perfect place to meet the applications team and see the depth and variety of the portfolio of equipment. We have some exciting projects with Canon on the horizon.”
He concludes, “Every now and then, a product comes along and shakes up the large format printing market. That is what the Canon Colorado M-series has done – and I am pretty sure there is much more to come. Watch this space…”
