For the first time, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Austria, is showcasing a special exhibition dedicated to the renowned Baroque painter Rembrandt van Rijn.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the museum’s own “Small Self Portrait” (1655-1657) by Rembrandt.

About the project
Thanks to advanced technology, Hirox Europe has created detailed 3D scans of this masterpiece in very high (140x) and ultra high
(350x) resolution. In these scans very fine details of the painting, its brushstrokes and pigments are visible. The same technology was used to scan the “Girl with the Pearl Earring” in the Mauritshuis in The Hague.

The Kunst Historisches Museum asked Canon to help transform these scans into elevated prints. These 35 x 25 cm elevated prints were made with PRISMAelevate XL software and printed on the award-winning Arizona flatbed printer series and allow visitors to not only see but also touch the texture of Rembrandt’s brushstrokes, offering a unique, tactile experience of his artistry.

Don’t miss this chance to connect with Rembrandt’s work in an entirely new way. The exhibition Rembrandt – Hoogstraten, Colour and Illusion is to enjoy until 12 January 2025. More information available here.
