For more than 25 years, renowned Danish photographer Søren Solkær has documented the artists, emotions and untold moments behind one of Europe’s most iconic music festivals. In summer 2026, that archive takes centre stage in Stages, a monumental outdoor photography exhibition in the heart of Copenhagen.
Featuring 64 large-format photographs displayed throughout the city centre, Stages offers a rare glimpse into the moments before the spotlight. Captured with unique backstage access at the Roskilde Festival, the exhibition reveals the human stories behind some of music’s most celebrated artists.
Powered by the Colorado XL-series
The entire exhibition was produced on the Canon Colorado XL-series, combining exceptional image quality with the durability required for outdoor display.

Since 1998, Søren Solkær has photographed artists backstage and on stage at the Roskilde Festival, creating a unique visual archive of life behind the scenes.

Photography on a monumental scale
Presented as part of Copenhagen Photo Festival, Stages transforms public space into an open-air gallery. The exhibition features 64 photographs, each approximately 1.5 x 2.7 metres, creating an immersive experience that brings visitors closer to the artists and stories behind the images.
