When thousands of visitors arrived in Palm Springs, California, for Drone Fest, the Palm Springs Unified School District Mail and Reprographics team had just one week to produce the event’s parking, directional, and scoreboard signage. Thanks to a recent technology upgrade, the four-person team delivered the project a day ahead of schedule.

At the heart of the upgrade are two Canon wide-format printers: the Canon Arizona 1360 GT flatbed printer and the Canon Colorado M5 roll-to-roll printer. Together, they have helped the in-plant increase production speed, improve print quality, and expand its application capabilities.

The investment also included several Canon production print devices, enabling the team to streamline workflows, reduce downtime, and enhance overall efficiency. According to the team, the new equipment has not only improved day-to-day operations but also supports higher volumes with greater reliability.

For outdoor applications, the Arizona and Colorado bring additional value through features such as spot colors and varnish, helping signage withstand the intense Southern California sun while maintaining vibrant colors. The printers also proved their value during Drone Fest, allowing the team to produce high-quality banners and signs faster than before.

“The Canon machinery is so quick that we can pump out banners all day,” said Supervisor David Monay.
