UVgel technology gets 3M MCS warranty approval

Las Vegas. 19th October 2022.

Media powerhouse and key Industry player 3M have granted our Colorado 1650 and its UVgel 460 ink their highly sought-after 3M MCS Warranty certification, effectively making the UVgel technology become part of 3M’s “Matched Component System” (MCS).

The 3M MCS Warranty is widely recognized as the industry’s golden standard and represents the most comprehensive, all-inclusive warranty for finished, large format graphics.

It provides non-prorated protection for the graphic’s intended lifespan, including protection against fading, cracking, peeling, blistering, discoloration and many other aspects of graphic print performance.

3M’s elaborate weathering technology and rigorous and stringent testing of ink, printer and media combinations make that 3M stands behind our technology with their premium warranty, giving both the print service providers and the end users piece of mind and assuring that their images will perform as expected for the intended lifetime of the printed graphic.

Applications covered by the 3M MCS warranty include vehicle graphics, signs and displays, floor graphics and many others.

Our Canon Colorado 1650 is the industry’s most productive 64-inch printer and uses the unique UVgel ink technology, designed to combine the advantages of the traditional ink technologies such as a wide color gamut, ultra-robust output, being odorless and fully certified for indoor use, as well as being very durable for outdoor use.

On top of this, UVgel enables unique options like being able to influence the output with a matt or gloss finish and even combining the two in one print.

“UVgel is a breakthrough technology that is transforming the way graphics and applications are being produced. By receiving the 3M MCS warranty, we have passed yet another milestone in our long-term strategy.

It is key that we work together with major industry partners like 3M. Through collaboration and partnerships, we will continue our mission to give the customers in this exciting graphics market all the benefits they deserve.” says Kris Walewijns, Business Development Manager at CPP, who has been guiding this project since the beginning and first showed the concept of UVgel to 3M as early as Drupa 2016.

We are seeing a rapid growth with our Colorado platform and patented UVgel technology, and we invested in 2020 a new, state-of-the art ink factory at our HQ in Venlo, Netherlands, which is now fully operational and increasing its production capacity continuously to keep up with the demand.

“We have been working very closely together with Canon on validating UVgel for our gold standard in finished graphics on a broad range of our 3M media including our durable and sustainable 3M™ Envision™ range of sustainable self-adhesive media” says Woonsik Shim, Vice President at 3M Commercial Solutions Division.

We are is currently setting up new labels and packaging so that the 3M MCS warranty for the Colorado 1650 and its UVgel 460 ink will be available as a 3M MCS Warranty Component starting January 1st, 2023.
