On Thursday January 27th, Canon was introduced to the other members of the IGI – The Global Wallcovering Association (www.igiwallcoverings.org). In this association respected companies active in the global wallcovering market come together to discuss topics relevant to their business. The members consist amongst others of media manufacturers, suppliers, national wallpaper associations and of course wallcovering manufacturers with a long heritage in the market.
As the Large Format Graphics business line sees interior décor as a strategic application area the step was taken to become a member of this association as well in 2021, supported by the Large Format Graphics Global Partner Channel. Also, other manufacturers of digital printing equipment, like Xeikon, are members of the IGI.
With no events taking place where members can meet in person, we took the opportunity to present Canon, the Colorado & the UVgel technology with its growing success in the wallcovering market and the Arizona Touchstone technology to create tactile surface patterns to the IGI members during a webinar focused on digital printing. This was done together with our colleagues from media manufacturer Ahlstrom Münksjo who offer a media portfolio towards digital wallcovering printers. Canon was represented by Ruud Sturme (Professional Services Manager for Large Format Graphics in the Customer Support group) who is representing Canon in the IGI.
The webinar was well received with 66 participants and some of our prospects from the analog wallpaper manufacturers actually present up to even 4 people. Digital wallpaper printing and its new opportunities with respect to new types marketing and opening new markets is certainly on their strategic agenda’s.
